The Right-Wing Accelerationist Parallel

In 2025, British police arrested a teenager who had joined The Base, an accelerationist neo-Nazi network, over a planned synagogue attack. German authorities separately disrupted a plot by a 19-year-old targeting the historic Halle synagogue – site of the 2019 attack in which a gunman killed two bystanders after failing to force entry – apparently timed to that attack’s sixth anniversary. Analysts at the International Centre for Counter-Terrorism have tied several of these plots to the Terrorgram Collective, a loosely organized network of extreme-right channels, primarily on Telegram, that glorifies past attackers and actively encourages new ones. Notably, the Collective’s reach is explicitly transatlantic: the May 2026 San Diego mosque shooting in the United States – examined further in this series’ Part I discussion of accelerationist infrastructure targeting – has been tied by the same analysts to Terrorgram-linked ideological material, despite targeting a different religious community than the European synagogue plots.
The West Bloomfield Case as the US Echo
On March 16, 2026, the FBI’s Detroit Field Office confirmed that an attack on Temple Israel in West Bloomfield Township, Michigan – metropolitan Detroit’s largest synagogue – was a “Hezbollah-inspired act of terrorism.” The attacker, 41-year-old Ayman Ghazali, had conducted extensive online research related to firearms and “shootouts” since January 2026; Israeli military sources separately and publicly claimed his brother was a Hezbollah commander, a claim this dossier notes as an Israeli military assertion rather than an independently confirmed FBI finding. The attack was the third against a Michigan house of worship within a twelve-month span.
