Executive Summary

Ansar-ul-Sharia Pakistan was a new terror group launched in Pakistan. This is an objective analysis of their first communication/manifesto to the public.

ANSARUL-SHARIA BACKGROUND

  1. Founded by Saifullah, alias Tusani, who fought in the Afghan Jihad
  2. Saifullah was arrested in Tunisia in 2006, where he made numerous contacts with militants and militant groups
  3. Launched Ansar-ul-Sharia Tunisia in 2011 after his release. The core work of the group was welfare, preaching and fund raising.
  4. Ansar-ul-Sharia is inspired by al-Qaeda targeting liberal politicians, schools & institutions
  5. When they were banned in Tunisia, they fled to Libya.
  6. They have distanced themselves from ISIS, but still support al-Qaeda & it’s central command
  7. Targets 3 groups of people for recruitment:
    1. Militant fighters
    2. Preachers
    3. Fundraisers
  8. Follows the AQIS model, hiring/recruiting militants EXPELLED by AQIS, ISIS, and other terror groups
  9. They are currently operating from Afghanistan targeting military and LEAs.
  10. Potential future targets: anyone who fosters, carries or supports the liberalization of Pakistan
  11. There are claims that they fought for IS – Khorasan in Afghanistan before becoming disgusted with their brutality and broke off
